Does Luffy find the One Piece at the end of Netflix's adaptation?

If you're anything like us, then you will have spent the weekend heavily invested in the Straw Hat Pirates' quest to search for the 'one piece' in Netflix's adaptation of the manga original One Piece by Eiichiro Oda.
Netflix's live-action One Piece sees pirate Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and his crew made up of Nami (Emily Rudd), Zoro (Mackenyu Arata), Usopp (Jacob Romero Gibson) and Sanji (Taz Skylar) set sail to find the missing 'one piece' of treasure that will enable Luffy to become the 'King of Pirates'. But this is no simple expedition, and the Straw Hat Pirates face many adversaries and obstacles on their way.
So does Luffy find the one piece? And what happens at the end of the series? Here's everything you need to know.
Does Luffy find the 'One Piece'?
The main objective of the series for Luffy and his crew is to find the one piece of priceless treasure called the 'one piece' which will enable whoever finds it to have the title of 'Pirate King'.
However, in the Netflix series the Straw Hat Pirates have only just begun their quest and as of the first series have not found the one piece yet. This is perhaps not so surprising given it's the first season and we're hopeful there will be many more seasons of One Piece to come.
The original manga series of the same name by Eiichiro Oda, which was first published in 1997, has also not yet revealed if Luffy and his crew have found the one piece. So it looks like there are lot more adventures for the Straw Hat Pirates before we can even begin to find the treasure.
How does Netflix's One Piece end?
Despite the treasure not being found, there's still a lot that takes place in the final episode of One Piece on Netflix.
The episode opens with an exploration into Nami's backstory, revealing how Nami voluntarily enslaved herself to Arlong (McKinley Belcher III) , in order to save her village, by creating maps for him. However, Arlong deceived her and all the money she had stolen for him was stolen by Marine Nezumi (Rory Acton Burnell), under Arlong's instructions.
We go back to the present where the inhabitants of Coco Village have had their village destroyed. The Straw Hats agree to join forces with Coco Village and fight Arlong.
Elsewhere Nezumi is telling Vice Admiral Garp (Vincent Regan), aka Luffy's grandfather, about the Straw Hats, claiming they are a group of "murderous pirates" who destroyed Coco Village. Garp and his crew then set off to find the Straw Hats.
Luffy and the Straw Hats attack Arlong's crew, with Luffy and Nami heading off to find Arlong himself whilst Usopp, Sanji and Zoro deal with the others.
Luffy and Nami find Arlong in his map room, and after sending Nami away, Luffy engages in a fight with Arlong, where he realises in order to destroy him once and for all, he needs to take away what he holds dear - the maps, which are his gateway into ruling the seas and destroying humanity.
Luffy is able to maximise his powers and brings the map tower crashing down, burying himself and Arlong.
Somehow, Luffy survives the fall. But what of Arlong? Well, if you've read the original manga then unfortunately you will know Arlong does survive as well, but whether we'll see him return for a potential season two remains to be seen.
The Straw Hats head back to Coco Village to celebrate, however their celebrations are short-lived as Garp shows up and instructs his crew to arrest Luffy.
However, Koby (Morgan Davies) and cadet Helmeppo (Aidan Scott) try to vouch for Luffy, saying it was Arlong who destroyed the village. The guns are set upon the Straw Hats and Garp offers Luffy another chance to give up on piracy, but Luffy refuses saying he'll never give up on his dream.
Interestingly, Garp then lets Luffy go and instructs his marines to go after Arlong's pirates and arrest them.
As the two groups part ways Koby gives Luffy a gift which turns out to be a 'Wanted' poster, which bears his face and a reward set for his capture of 300,000,000 Berry, the highest bounty in the East Blue.
The Straw Hats come together and reaffirm their mission to work towards their individual dreams whilst also towards the big goal of Luffy becoming Pirate King.
As their celebrations continue, the final scene of the series sees a mysterious figure wearing a fur coat, and smoking a cigar. He is looking at the wanted poster of Luffy and burns a hole through his eyes.
Fans of the original manga will be all too aware this mysterious figure is most likely to be Smoke, one of the Straw Hats' biggest adversaries, and therefore likely to be the foe they will be battling should season two go ahead. Bring it on!
