Dodgers vs. Astros World Series tickets among the most expensive in recent history

Is 29 years an eternity? According to the latest World Series ticket prices, it’s about on par. Fans of both the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros are willing to pay roughly the same amount to see their teams in the World Series … and they are willing to shell out quite a bit of money.

If you want to go to Games 1 through 4, it’s going to cost between $1,200 and $1,400 per ticket. Those figures come from SeatGeek, which has tracked secondary markets since 2010.

Here’s the average re-sale price of tickets for those games:

Those figures are on par with what fans paid to go to World Series games in Cleveland last season. Tickets for Game 1 of the 2016 World Series went for $1,156.

In fact, the current World Series tickets are aiming to be the second-highest ever tracked by SeatGeek. Only 2016 World Series tickets in Chicago have gone for more. Tickets to the first World Series game at Wrigley Field last year went for $3,372. That was on par with Super Bowl tickets.

We should note that those are the average re-sale prices. It’s still possible to buy tickets for under $,1000 for each game, but not by much. You’re looking at roughly $900 per contest, so still pretty expensive.

And that’s probably to be expected. The Dodgers haven’t been to — or won — the World Series in 29 years. The Astros were last there in 2005, but the franchise has never won the World Series. It makes sense that fans of both clubs are willing to spend crazy amounts to experience history.

So, if you’re looking to become the next Zack Hample, you can check out which areas of the park are most likely to give you that shot. Those tickets are going for over $1,000. People really want to catch the 2017 iteration of the Kirk Gibson dinger.

There’s no data beyond Game 4 yet, because the series could be over by then. But that seems doubtful. While the Dodgers are favored, the Astros are making a lot of noise with gamblers. This one could go all seven games.

We knew the 2017 World Series was going to be the hottest ever, but we thought that only applied to the temperature. Dodgers and Astros fans won’t top the Cubs, but they’ll come close.

That’s not bad, considering neither team is working on a 108-year drought.
