Turning Your Tights Into a Top Is Now a Thing

Need Some New DIY Ideas? Turning Your Tights into a Top is Now a Thing

Nailing holiday party style is about looking hot as hell while making sure you don’t freeze to death in the process. Needless to say, artful layering is always in order. This year, in addition to furry coats and ankle boots, we wouldn’t be surprised if stocking tops become a thing. Kendall Jenner and Kanye West have been proponents of the trend for some time now; and it’s a smart way to give a silk cami or velvet spaghetti strap dress a little bit more coverage—without resorting to a mood-killing cardigan.

Our friends at Refinery29 spotted a DIY version of the item that’s sure to add fuel to the trend. Just like the furry slide or velvet choker, an easy style hack is never bad for business.

The process of turning your tights into a top looks simple enough: just cut off the toes of the tights in order to turn the legs into sleeves, then cut out the crotch panel to create a neckline. A little bit odd but still kind of genius, no? Apparently, it’s a trick ballet dancers have been clued into for a while now as it adds warmth without bulk. So yeah, we officially have to try this one.
