As the weather gets colder, you're probably worried about how the COVID-19 pandemic will affect the fall and winter holidays. First up: Halloween. People have already started questioning—and worrying—if trick-or-treating will still go on and if it will be safe. Thankfully, though, that just means that the creative among us have already started brainstorming solutions to make Halloween a socially distant success this year.
This includes the team over at YouTube channel Wicked Makers who crafted this super cool, and kind of scary, trick-or-treating candy slide Halloween prop. The slide is meant to look like one skeleton is sending candy through another skeletons mouth but really you can use it to stand in your yard and safely send down some candy to all the little ghouls and goblins who come to your home.
You'll have to go over to their channel to get the full rundown because trust me, you don't want me giving you any secondhand crafting advice. But basically pick up some PVC piping, some glue, some props of your choice (they suggested everything from spider webs to a witch theme), and of course, candy! Honestly, the more I watch it, I am just struck by how genius it is. Si even if you're in an apartment like I am and have no use for this, you'll probably be sucked into watching, too.
Of course this isn't the only socially distant trick-or-treating solution. Something as simple as throwing candy from your car or yard, or staggering the times everyone will be out can help. Here's wishing you and yours a safe and happy Halloween!
