As the entertainment industry continues to navigate the new, post-pandemic normal in which the future of theatrical releases remains in question, Disney has announced that their live-action adaptation of Mulan, which was slated to hit the big screen this month will now premiere on Disney+ on September 4 for a premium rental price.

Here's what you need to know to tune in from the comfort of your own home.

You'll need a Disney+ login.

That's the first step. You need to be actively subscribed to Disney+, which currently has a monthly price of $6.99.

But unlike the rest of the content on Disney+, like the movie version of Hamilton, shows including The Mandalorian, and animated classics such as Beauty and the Beast, there will be an additional fee of $29.99 to watch Mulan.

It may sound like an expensive purchase, but when you consider how much a family of four might have spent at a theater to see the film, it's a bargain.

You'll be able to watch it as many times as you want.

The $29.99 doesn't just get you a one-time rental. A spokesperson told CNN that "the fee provides ongoing access to the film as long as they remain Disney+ subscribers."

But if you don't want to pay, it will eventually be included in the regular Disney+ subscription.

Disney has confirmed that it will be free to watch for all customers on December 4, 2020.

It's also available on Disney+ for no additional fee. The sequel, Mulan II, is also available to stream on the platform.
