Disney World Is Updating Its Mask Rules To Allow People To Take Photos
Walt Disney World has been continuing to bring magic into guests' lives throughout the pandemic, and of course there are the necessary safety precautions expected when you visit the parks. Social distancing, temperature checks at the entrances, and sanitary stations throughout the parks are the norm now, but the face covering rule is being adjusted to allow park-goers to remove their masks for photos.
Starting today, guests at Disney World in Orlando will be permitted to take their masks off for photos if they are outside and standing still. Guests are still advised to properly social distance from others in the park when their masks are off. Prior to this adjustment, guests were only allowed to take off their masks when actively eating or drinking in a designated area.
This change is only taking effect in Disney World—Disneyland still requires guests to have their masks on at all times except when eating and drinking. Both parks require all guests ages two and up (as well as Cast Members) to wear face coverings even if they're vaccinated.
Despite the adjustments made around the park to ensure safety, this new rule will allow people to snap memories of their trip that show their smiling faces which they were unable to do before.
There is a full list of guidelines regarding necessary face coverings at the park, including which materials are allowed versus those that are not, available on the Disney World website. For starters, they must be made with two layers of breathable material and must cover your mouth and nose.
