Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom ended with dinosaurs on the loose. Those prehistoric creatures are no longer confined to small islands far away from people. They’ve been set free in the world to compete with humanity at the top of the food chain. We don’t need to see Jurassic World: Dominion to know the danger humankind created for itself. But director Colin Trevorrow gives us an early glimpse to show us what terrors await with a Jurassic World: Dominion prologue. This short film gives us a taste of things to come. Hopefully, when we see his full movie, it won’t also be overrun by a T.rex.

This official new prologue opens like a BBC Earth nature doc. It follows a bevy of different dinosaurs—including seven new species never before seen in a Jurassic Park film, according to a release. The dinos serenely go about their lives. (That is until an inevitable clash leads to a fierce dino battle.) This segment of the Jurassic World: Dominion prologue is generally peaceful, if not downright beautiful. But it’s also incredibly ominous. Seeing huge populations of dinosaurs roaming the Earth does not portend well for mankind 65 million years later. And those shots of mosquitos buzzing around serve as a reminder of the tiny event that could ultimately doom humanity to extinction.

The possibility of that future becoming a reality is hammered home by the second half of the short. Chaos consumes a drive-in theater when a giant T.rex crashes the screening. People predictably panic as a helicopter full of soldiers is unable to bring down the beast. Clearly, catching all these rogue dinosaurs will be a monster undertaking. One without any guarantee of success. And many innocent people are likely to die while the government tries to stop the animals. Not great for these fictional moviegoers. But at least we got an awesome poster from Universal Pictures for their troubles.

This is the second prologue for the film. A previous short showed a campground overrun by dinosaurs. But this new look, which will not be included in the movie either, makes clear that finding a way to co-exist with dinosaurs is all but impossible. Stupid mosquitos! And, to be fair, stupid man playing god!

Free-range dinosaurs should make for a great, terrifying story. So long as it remains entirely on the screen. If a T.rex invades our screening, we’ll feel very differently.
