After weeks of speculation, Father of the Bride Part 3 is making its way to Netflix, Facebook, and YouTube today! At 6p.m. EST, viewers can tune into this mini-sequel to catch up with the cast members, get some insight into how George Banks and the gang would handle the mess that is 2020, and encounter a few special surprise guests.

The official title of the part-sequel part-reunion is Father of the Bride Part 3 (ish), as it's not a full-length feature film but it's a little more exciting than director Nancy Meyers' other cast reunions hosted on Instagram in the previous months. Netflix created its own teaser trailer showing that while George Banks may be a bit behind on the times, he at least has an email address, which we're sure creates plenty of blunders and meltdowns for him.

Similar to Meyers' reunion with The Parent Trap cast, this special will benefit Chef Jose Andres' World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit devoted to supplying food to victims of natural disasters, and has specifically been working to feed those hardest-hit by the coronavirus since the spring. Talk about a feel-good film!

The original article, published Thursday, September, 10, continues below:

What's crazier than Annie and Nina Banks both getting pregnant (and giving birth) at the same time? Getting the Bankses back on our screens in 2020! Director Nancy Meyers confirmed something is in the works with the beloved cast from Father of the Bride Part I and II via Instagram today and fans are going wild.

While Meyers' post seemed like it was simply suggesting that Father of the Bride Part I and II would be making their way into our Netflix queues one day soon, the director confirmed in the comments that her news was even more exciting than that.

"I think she's just saying the film's coming to Netflix," one commenter said. "If this is a hint that there's something more in the works, I'm going to have a George Banks level meltdown."

Meyers responded directly with, "Start melting." Melting commenced!

And we're not the only ones. Celebrities from Ina Garten to Lily Aldridge have displayed their enthusiasm for the promise of seeing the cast on-screen in a brand-new way, and all kinds of theories are spinning in the social media universe.

Meyers' post could be an allusion to an upcoming Instagram Live reunion similar to the one she hosted with the cast of The Parent Trap earlier this year. But would it be too much to ask for a Father of the Bride Part III? Even better: a chance to revisit the Colonial Revival home featured in both films. The staircase! The columns! The signature Nancy Meyers-esque kitchen! We want it all.

And surely no movie scene would inspire a more iconic meme than Franck Eggelhoffer responding to a George Banks-level meltdown with, "Welcome to 2020, Mr. Bah-nks."
