Did You Catch the Difference Between Meghan Markle’s Sporty Look and Kate Middleton’s?

It only takes a quick glance at these 28 pictures of royals making goofy faces while playing sports to tell that this family — while poised and regal and all that jazz — is competitive on the court. Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton included.

While we're used to seeing the royals all dolled up for family occasions and the umpteenth royal wedding of the year (we're about to hit number two of three, if you're keeping count), they do like to dress down when it comes to sports. Well, some of them like to dress down, anyway.

Meghan Markle literally stepped up to the plate alongside Prince Harry on Monday for Coach Core, a program that trains young people to become coaches, but her footwear is eyebrow raising, because it looks no different from her street wear.

Despite the fact that she clearly had her game face on, she put her sneakers away in favor of fairly high heels.

Kate Middleton typically has a different approach for this sort of thing. The Duchess of Cambridge has been known to swap her heels out for sneakers to give her that game-winning edge.

Still, that doesn't mean "no heels" is a cardinal rule. When Middleton was a newly minted royal, she would wear them a lot more often, even in sporty situations (do you see those wedges? Who wants to tell her about Queen Elizabeth's pet peeve ...).

Perhaps it's a newbie royal thing, and it's only a matter of time before Markle ditches the formal footwear too. Time (and/or blisters) will tell.
