Devonta Freeman accidentally takes out TV crew member with giant microphone
Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman ran over everyone Monday night. It wasn’t just linebackers, cornerbacks and safeties either. No, Freeman even managed to take out a member of the television production crew during Monday Night Football.
Freeman’s run came with about 3:33 left in the third quarter. He was chased over near the sideline, and ran out of bounds in order to avoid a hit. As he was trying to stop his momentum, he bumped into a member of the TV crew holding a large microphone.
As you might expect, Freeman won that encounter.

He doesn’t run into the man with that much force, but it was enough to get the job done. The man tumbles to the ground with the parabolic microphone in his hands. As he hits the grass, you can see his glasses fly off, and another fragment hit the ground as well.
Parabolic microphones aren’t cheap. You can find some online that run up near $1,000, and those aren’t broadcast-quality microphones. We’re going to guess this one cost a bit more than that, and we hope it survived the fall.
Though it didn’t look like Freeman hit the guy all that hard, we’re willing to give him a pass here. He was likely off balance from trying to move out of the way, and the weight (and awkwardness) of the huge microphone probably played a role in him tumbling to the ground.
Even if that wasn’t the case, can you blame him? Freeman piled up 125 rushing yards, 69 receiving yards and a touchdown in Atlanta’s 24-21 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The way Freeman looked Monday night, you would go to the ground too if he was heading straight at you.

See what we mean? Even professionals wanted nothing to do with Freeman during the game.
