Despite Warm Weather, Palisades Tahoe Confirms Opening Day Plans
It's been a warm and wet pre-season here in Tahoe, and I won't even go into the multitude of El Nino predictions explaining why this is or isn't on par with how the winter's going to play out.
What is for sure, as of right now, is that there is zero snow on the ground and very little need to don a down coat to venture outside. Despite this, Palisades Tahoe just confirmed that they're sticking to their November 22, 2023 opening day:
Brown pine tree leaves from the tall trees by the lake litter the ground like a thick rug, and there's no sign of them disappearing anytime soon.
Officials at Palisades Tahoe walk the same earth, and are likely disheartened by the color of the ground, but their disappointment has not shown through in their Instagram communications.
Just yesterday, Palisades Tahoe announced their opening day is still running as scheduled, so on November 22nd, people are still welcome to board the lifts and take turns down the "limited terrain".
"We've seen scattered rain showers throughout the day, as well as some high-elevation snow. This storm hasn't delivered quite what we were originally hoping for in terms of snow accumulation, but we're still on for our scheduled opening day of November 22nd!"
Palisades promises to release updates when needed, but for now, visitors of the resort can count on a fun first day of the ski season, limited terrain aside.
The resort is celebrating the beginning of winter by hosting a 'Welcome to Winter' celebration with events such as the annual Christmas Tree lighting with Santa and his elves as well as deals across the village, for those who enjoy shopping.
Whatever we get to ski on November 22nd will be awesome, even if the conditions are not. It's less about good skiing and more about good vibes, at the risk of sounding cliche.
If you could pick one trail at Palisades Tahoe to open on November 22nd, what would it be? Nationals? Schmidiots? They say dream big... impossibly big, in this case.
