Demi Lovato Slams Time's 'Person of the Year’ Cover: 'This Is Worth Speaking Up About'

The singer's sibling is best known for her role as Eva Longoria's daughter on 'Desperate Housewives.'

Demi Lovato’s not sorry about speaking out! The 25-year-old pop star took to Twitter on Wednesday to voice her frustrations over Time magazine’s “Person of the Year” cover. Though many commended the magazine for publicly acknowledging the women of the “#MeToo” movement with the “Silence Breakers” cover, Lovato took offense to the chosen runner-up, President Donald Trump.

“Time mag highlights brave women coming forward against sexual assault on the cover but names a man with sexual assault allegations against him runner up to person of the year.. Really @TIME? #hypocrites,” the “Sorry Not Sorry” singer began.

Lovato also acknowledged that after campaigning for Hillary Clinton and being very politically opinionated on social media, she had stepped back from that role recently.

“I’ve become less vocal about my distain for certain people over the past year because it only divides our country even more but this is worth speaking up about,” she wrote. @TIME mag - very disappointed in your hypocrisy and disrespect toward the women on your cover.

She also retweeted a fan who said that Kesha should have been included on the cover.

The magazine has long acknowledged the most newsworthy person or, in this year’s case, people of the year, not the most inspirational. But Lovato wasn’t pleased by that method.

“To be named POTY by @TIME it should be for doing something positive or brave LIKE the women on the cover. It’s annoying that it’s just about impact on the news,” she wrote.

Lovato is known for speaking her mind. In her recent 2017 American Music Awards performance, she called out her social media bullies. Watch the clip below to see the moving performance!
