Demi Lovato's Team Releases Statement on Her Apparent Overdose

Demi Lovato's team just released the first statement about her apparent overdose. A spokesperson told NBCNews:

"Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support. Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy," the spokesperson said.

The former Disney star and singer was hospitalized earlier today of an apparent overdose. Initially, TMZ reported that she overdosed on heroin, but sources close to the situation told People that wasn't true, and TMZ eventually walked back their claims.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that they responded to a call at 11:39 a.m. in Hollywood for a 25-year-old female. When paramedics found her, she was reportedly unconscious and they used narcan to revive her at the scene, which is a drug often used to counteract drug overdoses.

Demi has often been open about her struggle with substance abuse. Earlier this spring, she celebrated her sixth anniversary of sobriety right before releasing a song in June called "Sober" in which she seemingly admitted to a relapse.

“Momma I’m so sorry I’m not sober anymore / And Daddy please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor," the lyrics read. "To the ones who never left me, we’ve been down this road before / I’m so sorry, I’m not sober anymore."
