DAN WHALEN: I love just playing with the idea of a burger. This is one of my favorite recipes for a burger with an alt bun. It's the burger with a quesadilla as the bun. As you can see, I made the patty for the quesadilla burger the same size and shape as the tortillas of the quesadilla itself.
I started getting obsessed with different uses for tater tots. So I thought it'd be fun to also use those as a bun for a burger and see where that went. It's like instead of having a burger with French fries, you're having a burger and fries all in one bite. This one's gonna be a sushi rice bun. And I have some bowls here that I sort of bun sized. Stir it with sugar, salt, and rice vinegar. And that's where it's gonna get this perfectly sticky consistency. The best way to work with sushi rice is to wet your hands first because otherwise the super sticky rice is gonna stick right to your hands.
