Degrassi is officially returning, and fans are curious to know what to expect. As longtime viewers of the Canadian teen drama may know, the first Degrassi reboot became the most popular within the franchise, which originated in 1979. More than two decades later, The Next Generation premiered in 2001 and it followed a new generation of teens at Degrassi Community School. Most notably, some of the original cast from the first series returned as parents and recurring characters.

Degrassi: The Next Generation ran for a total of 14 seasons and famously introduced the world to stars like actor-turned-rapper Drake and actress Nina Dobrev. So, what does the new Degrassi reboot have in store for fans? For all the info on what The Degrassi reboot will look like, keep on scrolling:

What is The Degrassi reboot about?

The Degrassi reboot will continue to show the lives of teenagers attending Degrassi Community School and their journey towards self discovery. According to Deadline, the Degrassi reboot will be "a reprise of the original drama" set in Toronto. Per the upcoming show's logline, a new "group of teenagers and school faculty [live] in the shadow of events that both bind them together and tear them apart."

Though there aren't specific details known at this moment, the show will feature "diverse, complicated" people who attempt to "find their new normal, reaching for hope, redemption and love." What could this mean?! It's not clear just yet but it sounds intense!

Fans will have to stay tuned for a trailer, but with HBO Max being home to coming of age stories, like Euphoria and Gossip Girl, the reboot is already looking promising. On top of that, former Degrassi show writer Lara Azzopardi is now a showrunner and executive producer alongside Julia Cohen. Since writing an episode for Degrassi: The Next Generation in 2009, Lara has written and coexecutive producer a handful of them for Freeform's dramedy The Bold Type.
