Debby Ryan Responds to Memes About Her Old Movies

Debby Ryan knows that she’s become a meme — and it seems like she’s laughing along with everyone else.

By now, you’ve probably seen several clips of Debby’s old movies circulating on your TikTok FYP or your Twitter timeline, with her facial expressions being repurposed as the perfect reaction gif for a variety of situations. The one that seems to be most popular would be from her 2012 DCOM Radio Rebel, where she portrayed Tara Adams, the shy girl at school who was secretly a radio DJ. In the clip, Debby nervously brushes hair out of her face while looking up bashfully — a gesture that has since been recreated dozens of times on social media by TikTokers. Someone’s dad even got in on the fun, we kid you not.

While it seems like most of the tweets and videos were made all in good fun, being mocked doesn’t ever really feel great — but it seems as though Debby herself is taking it all in stride. The Insatiable star got in on the joke with a single tweet, writing: “I was serious about my craft from a young age and studied technique alongside Roxanne from A Goofy Movie.” She accompanied the joke with a perfect gif, and it’s clear that she definitely had the last laugh.

Plenty of people loved seeing Debby join on the meme, with one Twitter user replying, “Bless your sense of humor,” and another adding: “And we stan!” Other fans weighed in to say that they were proud of the actor for laughing at herself, and this person summed it up by writing: “You go girl for laughing with us.”

Sometimes there’s a fine line between making a joke and saying something hurtful, but Debby is seemingly taking the high road with this one. After all, sometimes “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” is really the best advice of all.
