Cult-followed brand and media production company Ski The East recently asked a question to their Instagram followers which sparked a hearty debate: Which resort has the best views in the East?
This isn't the kind of question that can be answered using statistics, like "most vert in the East" (Whiteface) or "most skiable acres in the East" (Sugarloaf).
People had strong opinions: the top comment was "the Camden Snowbowl in Maine. More of a hill but pretty awesome to look out at the Atlantic Ocean while skiing."
Camden is spectacular, so it makes sense that the skiing would also be top tier if your primary goal is scenery. Camden has stunning ocean views, beautiful hikes, great rock climbing and bouldering around every corner.
Another top comment was Sugarloaf (I agree but I'm totally biased). The commenter suggested the view was "looking North at the Bigelow range and Northeast at Mt. Katahdin." It is pretty special to see Mt. Katahdin from the Loaf. And the Sleeping Indian formation on the horizon is always a great indicator of visibility on any given day.
Wildcat, Cannon, Sugarbush, and Attitash were also in the running.
Watch Peak Ranking's review of Sugarbush to see some of the views below.
Around Wildcat exists breathtaking hiking in the summertime, and in the winter, Mount Washington is on display.
What do you think?
It makes sense that ski resorts in Maine tend to rank highly for being scenic, because Maine is the most forested state in the country with 88.8% of the state covered in forest.
New Hampshire is the second most forested state, as 81.9% of New Hampshire is covered by trees.
Trees, pow, views... the East Coast has it all!
