.. Lake Retba in Senegal. No, it’s not the site of a massive spill from a Pepto-Bismol tanker; this is Lake Retba’s real color. The distinct pink color results from the lake’s crazy-high salt content and the micro-algae that feeds off the salt. The sun reflecting off the algae turns the lake a nice shade of pink. Not exactly the place to daydream about fishing — the algae may love that high salt content but fish certainly don’t —but it’s still a trippy sight.
