#Daydream: Great Sand Dunes National Park

We know how it is. You’re stuck at your desk and the day seems to be going on forever. Your mind starts to wander — at first to “anywhere but here,” but then to exotic, faraway lands where your everyday problems and stress melt in the presence of true paradise. You want to go to there, and we want to go with you. Every day at 3 p.m. Eastern, we’ll send you a picture of the place we at Yahoo Travel are daydreaming about so we can all take that mental vacation together. Let’s go to…

…Great Sand Dunes National Park! Located in Colorado, this massive 44,246 acre park features the tallest sand dunes in all of North America. You can climb the dunes and sled down, as well as build sand castles at Medano Creek. There’s more to the park than just sand, though – it also has alpine lakes, tundra, waterfalls, ancient spruce and pine forests, grasslands, and wetlands. With such eco-diversity, you can be sure to see a wide range of wildlife, like bighorn sheep, beavers, bison, mountain lions, peregrine falcons, eagles, lizards, snakes, and fish in the park’s streams. It’s also proven to be the quietest national park in the lower 48 — and who doesn’t want some nice peace and quiet every now and then?
