Dawn Richard Completely Redefines the Birthday Suit

Dawn Richard’s everyday outfits are dramatic enough. Just take that fringed, jewel-encrusted bodysuit that she recently wore with a matching cowboy hat that redefined the so-called “yeehaw agenda,” as she put it. But in classic Leo fashion, she takes things even further when she’s dressing for her birthday. Last year, she fashioned a cascading canary yellow durag that was so long it doubled as a cape, and this year, she managed to one-up herself by turning the idea of the birthday suit on its head.

Richard, who just celebrated her birthday yesterday, has been posting a series of dramatic outfit shots in an undisclosed location seemingly somewhere in the American Southwest given the background: vast blue sky and classic desert brush. She’s been posing in copper bodysuits with metallic heeled boots and white button-downs, which she paired with little else. But her “birthday suit,” as she describes it, is her most eye-catching look of the week yet. With her heeled shoe resting atop a pile of chopped wood, haystacks perfectly aligned behind her, Richard took on her big day in a deconstructed Y/Project denim pair of pants, a barely-there back bra, and a Louis Vuitton bandana which she used to obscure part of her face. What better way to celebrate Leo season than turning yourself into the chicest outlaw in town?
