Yes, all these many years later, we're still talking about Ross having sex with Chloe, a.k.a. the “hot girl from the copy place” after a huge fight with Rachel. The episode first aired in February 1997, but Schwimmer still got asked about it on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon in July 2020.
"It's not even a question: They were on a break," he said when asked about the famous plot. Schwimmer also told Fallon that fans still yell, “You were on a break!” at him, and their opinions are strongly held. "People are so compassionately divided about whether or not they were on a break," he said. Apparently, they also shout “Pivot!” at him, which is another iconic Ross moment from the show's 10-year run and a personal favorite of mine.
Schwimmer also recalled how he almost didn't take the part of Ross because of a bad experience on another sitcom but was convinced after the show's creators said they wrote the character with him in mind.
As for that long-awaited Friends reunion special, which was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, there's still a chance it will film in August.
"The hope is that this reunion special, which we would love to shoot…it's unscripted, it's basically a fun interview and then some other surprise bits," he said. "But it's supposed to happen in August, the middle of August. But honestly, we're going to wait and see another week or two if we all determine it's really safe enough to do. And if not, we will wait until it's safe."
Fingers crossed on that one. The world could probably use a fresh dose of Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Phoebe, and Joey content right now.
