David Cassidy Has Been Hospitalized with Organ Failure and Is in Need of Liver Transplant

David Cassidy has been hospitalized for liver and kidney failure and is currently in critical condition, his rep confirms to PEOPLE.

The Partridge Family star was in a medically induced coma but is now conscious and surrounded by family, including his son Beau Cassidy, ex-wife Sue Shifrin (whom he was married to from 1991 to 2016) and brother Patrick Cassidy.

Cassidy entered the hospital earlier this week and is currently in need of a liver transplant, his rep said.

In February, Cassidy revealed to PEOPLE that he was battling dementia.

After coming to terms with his condition, Cassidy said he made the decision to stop touring as a musician to concentrate on his health and happiness. “I want to focus on what I am, who I am and how I’ve been without any distractions,” he said. “I want to love. I want to enjoy life.”
