'Dancing on Ice' pro Vanessa Bauer offers update following rehearsal injury and missed show

Dancing on Ice’s Vanessa Bauer has revealed she’s able to take part in the show again after missing her’s and partner Perri Kiely’s live performance last week due to injury.

The professional figure skater was forced to skip the competition’s most recent live broadcast when she took a tumble during rehearsals and slid face-first into a wall. Having suffered severe bruising and concussion, doctors urged the 23-year-old to rest up before she returned to the rink.

Now, Bauer has taken to announce that she’ll be joining the Diversity dancer once again on Sunday 19 January.

"I'm so happy I've finally been given the green light to skate again,” she wrote in a series of Instagram stories. “Thanks so much for all of your get well messages. That meant a lot.”

Later, alongside a video of her practicing, she credited her speedy recovery to the protein supplements she’s been taking as part of her vegan diet.

At the time, Bauer addressed her accident on social media, explaining: "The medics have advised me to take the week off performing, so I'm gutted that I can't perform in the group numbers this weekend.

"I feel fine but @itv is super cautious and really takes care of us skaters which is why I went through SO many tests. Although I feel ok I am not allowed to skate this weekend. For the sake of my health I have to rest my brain.⁣"

Last week, blind Paralympian Libby Clegg took to the ice for the first time, earning praise from viewers at home and the highest score of the competition so far.

Many took to Twitter to describe the celeb’s routine with pro Mark Hanretty as “incredible” and “inspiring.”

Dancing on Ice continues on Sunday at 6pm on ITV.
