Dakota Johnson seems like she's literally everywhere these days. And for good reason: the gal works super hard. While she may be most famous (for now) for her spicy role in the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy, Dakota has proven herself to be quite the versatile actress. It comes as no surprise, though, seeing as she's a true daughter of Hollywood. She has the famous parents—and step-parents—to prove it.

The 32-year-old actress is also about to capture hearts in her upcoming Netflix movie Persuasion (all Jane Austen fans, hold on to your bonnets). The trailer alone has people buzzing. In the clip, viewers see Dakota in period garb, playing Austen's main character, Anne Elliot, who is seeking a second chance at love.

It looks amazing (of course), and naturally people have questions about Dakota and her net worth. So…asking for a friend here: How much money does Dakota Johnson make? Here’s what you need to know.

How much did Dakota make during her modeling career?

Fun fact: Dakota actually started her career as a model. She signed with IMG Models and worked for MANGO’s jeans line in 2009, according to IMDB. Beyond that, she didn’t do a ton of modeling, so it wasn’t exactly a huge money-making venture for her.

But hey, everyone has to start somewhere!

How much did she make for Fifty Shades?

Dakota’s breakout role was playing Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades of Grey, although she's now racked up 39 movie credits, per IMDB. She netted about $250,000 for the first movie, Fifty Shades of Grey, according to Celebrity Net Worth, which isn’t a ton of dough for someone who is headlining a movie. Still, that quickly changed.

Dakota then negotiated million-dollar salaries for the next two movies in the franchise. And she became one of the top-grossing actors of 2015, pulling in half a billion dollars at the box office, according to Forbes. So yay, Dakota! Close that wage gap.

She has her own production company.

She does indeed. It’s called TeaTime Pictures and it “embraces the eternal romance of art as escapism,” according to its website. You can buy $15 socks on the official TeaTime website, BTW.

Who are her parents?

Dakota has famous parents. Her dad is ‘80s and ‘90s heartthrob Don Johnson of Miami Vice fame, and her mom is actress Melanie Griffith. Fun fact: Her stepdad, until 2015, was Antonio Banderas. But her dad said in an interview with Seth Meyers that Dakota was on her own.

When she decided not to go to college, Don asked her if she knew that meant not being on the family payroll any more. "She says, 'Don't you worry about it.'" Three weeks later, she had a part in The Social Network...so getting the big bucks from her parents probably hasn't played a role in her total net worth.

What other deals and endorsements has she done?

A bunch, actually! Dakota has participated in several campaigns with luxury brands, including Gucci and OPI which, of course, don’t come cheap. Those probably added a chunk of change to her wallet.

How much is her real estate worth?

Dakota has two pretty pricey properties.

In 2020, Architectural Digest got an insider's tour of her $3.55 million midcentury modern LA home that she bought in 2016. And she also recently bought a new Malibu house with her BF Chris Martin in 2021. It’s no joke. The house cost $12.5 million, according to the New York Post.

It’s a six-bedroom, nine-bathroom, modern Cape Cod-style estate. It also includes a two-story guest house with a game room, a pool with a spa, and a full outdoor barbecue area, the outlet reports. Uh, can I come visit? And maybe Chris can also sing us some tunes?

What is her net worth?

All of that <gestures broadly> makes Dakota worth $14 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
