Americans produce 25 billion pounds of textile waste each year — the bulk of which is made up of used clothing. About 80 percent of clothes bought this year will end up in landfills or incinerated. Even clothes that are donated rarely find a second wearer. However, there is now a call within the fashion industry to upend the wasteful cycle.
