Dad Unwittingly Dresses Baby Like '90s Boy Band Member

When my baby brother was born, my father dressed me in a Christmas dress and knee socks to go and visit him and my mom in the hospital. It was early October. My mother was horrified.

This personal experience is why I'm not surprised another dad recently took some "creative liberties" dressing his baby for day care. Unfortunately for this dad, however, his fashion "oops" has gone viral.

Indiana mom Brooke Hawley-Basso recently shared a photo of her daughter Olivia's courtesy-of-dad outfit on Facebook, along with a hilarious text exchange between herself and her husband Jeremy. The post has since been shared over 32,000 times, received 62,000 reactions, and inspired over 10,000 comments. Likely because almost every mom in the world can relate to a #daddyfail like this one.

"Did you send Olivia to daycare without a shirt on?" Hawley-Basso asks her hubby in a text upon picking up Olivia and seeing that her daughter was wearing overalls without anything underneath.

"I sent her with that thing on," Jeremy responds.

"Supposed to wear a shirt under overalls," his wife says.

"I gotta plead ignorance here," Olivia's dad writes back. (Maybe he got confused by '90s boy band fashion?)

Omg. It's kind of like the time my husband put my daughter in the tub with her socks on. He said he just didn't notice she was wearing them.

And, as I suspected, commenters to Hawley-Basso's post had similar daddy fashion fails to share. One mom said her husband once dressed their baby in a Yoda costume off a stuffed animal, while another revealed her hubby had dressed their child in Build-A-Bear clothes when she went for a mom's night out.

But not everyone thought Olivia's wardrobe malfunction was so funny. "Hey, she's dressed and he got her where she was supposed to be. Pick your battles!" scolded one commenter.

And another mom pointed out it could be worse, writing, "At least he brought her. I went back to work when [my] youngest was 7 weeks old & because I had to be to [at] work before their father he had to bring them. They were almost to daycare one morning when my at the time 4 year old said 'Daddy, where's Sean?' He had left him in his car seat on the kitchen floor. I'm just glad he was in the kitchen & not on the porch & that daycare was only about 10 minutes away."

Yup, that's definitely A LOT worse.

As for Jeremy, he's taking all the attention his #daddyfail has garnered in stride. The dad told the "Today" show about his outfit choice for Olivia: "It was hanging in the closet, and I just grabbed it and thought it was some sort of tank top." He added, "It was funny after I thought about it. I suppose (dads should) send a picture to their wives if they second guess themselves. But, Olivia didn't seem to mind, so it was all good."

Exactly. Babies have no clue. But good idea about checking with the wife.

What is your take on Olivia's "revealing" outfit?
