Dad reveals what it’s like being married to a defense attorney in hilarious TikTok
A defense attorney mom on TikTok decided it’s never too early to teach your child their rights, and organized a lecture on the Constitution for her toddler’s daycare!
Asim Humayun (@notyourlawyermd) is a lawyer and dad whose wife also happens to be an attorney. In a hilarious video, Asim shared what happened when his toddler daughter’s daycare decided to invite a police officer to speak. His wife jumped into action and decided to organize her own lecture, where she taught the class full of 2-year-olds their constitutional rights!
“What’s it like being married to a defense attorney? Great question,” Asim says as the video begins. “So a few days ago [my wife] reaches out to me and says, ‘Hey, when you get home, I gotta talk to you about something.’”
At first, Asim was worried about the serious conversation his wife had planned, but then when he got home his worries quickly turned into amusement. His wife explained that their toddler daughter’s daycare had invited a police officer in to talk to the kids about topics like safety and how to dial 911.
“I was like, ‘So?’” Asim recalls. “And she was like, ‘What are you talking about? They’re encouraging people to go talk to law enforcement officers.’”
Asim’s wife decided to reach out to the daycare and speak her mind. “She’s talking to the head of the preschool, and she’s like, ‘There’s a new law that just passed in the state of Maryland on October 1st where law enforcement officers cannot conduct an interview or talk to minors without parental consent,’” Asim explains. “The preschool lady’s like, ‘You know what? That’s great information. Why don’t you come share that with the kids?’”
As a result of that conversation, Asim’s wife ended up organizing her own lecture! “So now there’s going to be a presentation in the future on fourth, fifth, and sixth amendment rights for 2 to 3-year-olds,” Asim says, laughing.
Then, the video cuts to the day of the lecture. Asim and his wife are at home, about to bring their daughter to daycare when Asim notices something amusing: His wife has dressed his daughter in a Ruth Bader Ginsburg shirt!
Asim asks his daughter, “What does Ruth Bader Ginsburg say?”
To which she replies, “Ask for a lawyer.”
Viewers were cracking up at the hilarious parents!
“I’m a mother and lawyer and in my expert opinion, you guys are raising those kids well,” one viewer wrote.
“I just fell in love with your wife,” another viewer commented.
“Your wife is the hero we need!” another TikToker chimed in.
This is one class of preschoolers that will definitely know their rights!
