Dad Goes Above and Beyond After Hummingbird Feeder Freezes in Seattle

What a gem he is!

Winter Storm Elliot has been wreaking havoc across the United States throughout the week of Christmas, but there are still so many heartwarming moments that shine through despite it all. Just look at what one Seattle dad did when he noticed the frozen hummingbird feeder! After a hummingbird seemed to ask for help, he got creative with extension cables and a candle warmer.

His daughter, @sarahissorry, documented his amazing invention on her TikTok account, and the video is blowing up! We can only hope that this inspires so many others to do something kind, too.

This dad is a true hero! It's so magical to see such a simple act of kindness making such a noticeable difference, but we know at least 7 birds have benefitted from his generosity.

"Thank you for doing this," wrote commenter @icarlystolemyson. "They say hummingbirds are souls of passed loved ones, so thank you for taking care of those who are gone but not forgotten." We had no idea that's what hummingbirds signify! That just makes this dad's act of kindness even more special.

Still, it may not be as rare of an occurrence as we think. @Rebecca_arjm shared, "Last year when it froze, mine flew right in my husbands face and started frantically chirping at him. Feeder was frozen." These little critters can be so smart! Luckily, the people feeding them usually figure it out, too.

"They sell heated feeders!" said @themythicalestofhoes."My dad is obsessed with our hummers and he found that they already exist!" Sounds like @sarahissorry's dad needs to invest in these immediately!
