The Crown season five has been out for almost a week (I know, I can't believe it either) and it's safe to say we're fully obsessed. The newest series features a time jump to the early 90s and a brand new cast playing the Royal Family, with Imelda Staunton taking on the role of The Queen.

Princess Diana and Prince Charles feature heavily in the 10-part series, as the breakdown of their marriage is explored. Whilst fans are loving the series and seeing Elizabeth Debicki take on the role of Princess Diana, there is one particular Diana moment that viewers are calling their favourite.

So which moment is it? The famous revenge dress scene? Her explosive Panorama interview? Or her relationship with surgeon Hasnat Khan? Nope, it's none of those, although they are great. It's actually a tiny moment at the beginning of episode 10 'Decommissioned' where Diana repeatedly votes 'no' to a question "Do you want a monarchy?".

To recap: in the scene, Diana is seen sitting at home on the sofa watching a special news programme about the future of the monarchy. On the screen two numbers pop up allowing viewers to call up and vote 'yes' or 'no' to the question "Do you want a monarchy?" Diana calls up to vote no and is seen repeatedly calling the same number as she watches the episode and laughs to herself.

The Crown viewers have been loving the scene, with some even declaring it their favourite moment of the series, as one person said: "Diana voting no repeatedly in response to the question 'do you want a monarchy?' is by far and away the best moment of this season of The Crown, and possibly the funniest thing I’ve ever seen on TV."

And another agreed saying: "Diana repeatedly voting 'no' for the monarchy on a call in tv show is definitely my favorite scene of The Crown."

One person described the scene as "peak TV" and another said it was "hilarious".

Though viewers may have found the scene funny, there is no evidence to suggest this moment actually happened in real life.

It was once claimed by Howard Hodgson, who wrote the book 'Charles — The Man Who Will Be King' that Diana did vote to abolish the monarchy in front of Prince William.

He claimed that Andrew Morton, who wrote the book 'Diana: Her True Story', had once claimed: "the Princess continually phoned into a television poll on the monarchy, voting each time for its abolition”.

Hodgson claimed: "William, then a boy and aware that both he and his father were supposed to be future kings, was apparently stretched out on a rug watching the programme with her.”

However, there is no evidence to suggest this actually happened.

The Crown season five is available on Netflix now.
