'Criminal Minds' Sparked a Total Freak Out After Introducing Reid’s New Love Interest

Finally, Reid is getting the romance he deserves!

Criminal Minds introduced us to Rachael Leigh Cook’s character, Max, during the episode, “Saturday.” After years of begging producers to help Reid find love, and after that unfortunate Jeid drama that plagued the finale and this season’s premiere, fans were relieved to see him—well—smiling!

Matthew Gray Gubler’s Reid ran into Max while she was with her nephew. Though they had a series of awkward encounters right off the bat, he eventually won her over with his classic Reid charm. I mean, how cute was he when he picked her up and ran with her through the sprinklers? Our hearts can’t take it!

Social media users were so surprised and delighted at this change, that they couldn’t hold back. They were very proud that he was flirting and mingling with Max, and expressed their joy with hilarious gifs and memes that we totally agree with.

There were a few naysayers who had to cast doubt upon the experience, calling out that he’s a germaphobe and probably wouldn’t roll around in the grass with a stranger. But whatever, we’re choosing to see the positive!

Still, this is Criminal Minds, so we’d be lying if we weren’t bracing ourselves for something bad to happen between Max and Reid eventually. We all know they can’t stay in this adorable new couple bliss forever.

But Reid deserves someone great, so fingers-crossed Max can handle him—and his job at the BAU.
