The BAU is…back!?

Criminal Minds just ended last year, but apparently Paramount+ is now eying a reboot for the popular crime drama. According to Deadline, the Criminal Minds revival is still in the early stages, but a “creative team is currently being assembled.”

Though no cast has been announced yet, The Hollywood Reporter notes that the original showrunner Erica Messer is expected to head up this new iteration. Deadline further claims that the plan is to have several of the original cast members return. Let’s all cross our fingers for favorites like Matthew Gray Gubler (Reid), Kirsten Vangsness (Garcia), and Joe Mantegna (Rossi). Wouldn’t it be great if they could get Shemar Moore, too!?

For those who aren’t caught up, Criminal Minds ran from 2005-2020, and fans were devasted when the series was cancelled. Though it’s similar to other procedurals, what set Criminal Minds apart was that it followed FBI profilers who tried to get inside the minds of serial killers and other criminals. (Criminal. Minds. Get it!?) The cast was also amazing, with characters like the adorable Reid, the colorful Garcia, and the hunky Derek Morgan always stealing the show. So good!

There aren’t a ton of other details to share, but rest assured we’ll keep you updated as we hear more. And between Stabler’s new Law and Order show and the possibility of an NCIS: Hawaii spinoff, there’s plenty to keep us entertained while we wait!
