One of Courteney Cox's best known roles is her character in the Scream movie franchise—and she recently experienced a Scream-like scare in her own home, prompting her to sell the pad.

In a recent interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Cox—who recently launched her home product brand, Homecourt—divulged that she once saw a ghost in her now-former pad in Laurel Canyon, California, which was once home to Carole King. In fact, she once had King come over to partake in a séance with her, in an attempt to remove the spirit.

“So, Carole King came over to my house and she said there had been a divorce that was really ugly, and there was a ghost in the house,” Cox said in the interview. “And I was ‘Yeah, whatever.’ But other people who had stayed there with me—like, friends of mine—said they had an encounter with a woman who was sitting on the edge of the bed.”

But the scariest moment for Cox came at a later date, when a delivery man stopped by to drop something off. “I was at the house one day, not being a believer. And the doorbell rang,” the actress told Kimmel. “It was a UPS guy or something, and I opened the door and he said, ‘Do you know this house is haunted?’ “And I go, ‘Yeah, why? Why do you think that?'”

“He goes, ‘Because there is someone standing behind you,'” said Cox. “And I was like, ‘Let’s sell.'” Not long after, the actress packed up her house and moved out. “I couldn’t sleep there alone ever again,” she proclaimed.
