Not ready to go all in on a tree house? Costco is selling a nature hideaway for kids that’ll blend into your backyard. It inspires outdoor activities and doubles as a secret fort.

The “hobbit hole,” as Costco recently called the Nature Play Hideaway in an Instagram post, is made by the brand Plum Discovery. It’s fashioned with sustainably-sourced timber and has a 360-degree play value, meaning kids can make use of every part of it. The entrance to the hideaway has an almost spaceship-like design that’s made of a clear material and includes a drop-down cover for secret fort shenanigans. Designed for efficiency and comfort, the hideaway has a roof lined with artificial grass. A bamboo gutter ensures any rainwater is removed from the roof.

For playtime, there’s a mud kitchen with a sink, tinker pots, burner, and accessories. Built-in planters and storage pots encourage gardening. A glass-like portion of the hideaway acts as a painting screen that kids can draw on with the paint brush pens included in the set. Better yet, the paint washes off with ease for reuse. To top it all off, bamboo wind chimes are included for extra sensory play.

The Nature Play Hideaway is available on Costco’s website for about $900. It’s recommended for kids ages 3 and up. It takes two adults about three hours to assemble, so it’s also a fun DIY project to pass the time. It's an investment backyard piece for sure and a great alternative to a treehouse.
