Costco is Now Selling Jumbo Carving Pumpkins and They're a Steal

Halloween is just a few weeks away, which means it's already prime pumpkin season. We've been waiting all year to break out our cozy sweaters, pumpkin carving tools, and deck the halls in festive pumpkin decor—and thankfully that time is finally here!

If you absolutely can't wait to start decorating your fall front porch with colorful foliage and festive jack-o'-lanterns, Costco has you covered. The Instagram Costco expert Costco Buys recently posted a photo of several crates of pumpkins they found at their local Costco store. According to the post, the bulk grocery chain is now selling huge pumpkins for $5.99. Yes, you read that correctly—Costco is selling full-size pumpkins for around the same price of a Pumpkin Spice Latte. And since the chain just rolled out their new membership feature, it'll be easier than ever to add these to your cart.

We don't know whether every Costco location will be selling the pumpkins, and it looks like the prices aren't all the same nationwide. A few commenters on the post mentioned their store was selling them for a dollar more, but for that price that'd still be cheaper than paying by the pound at the pumpkin patch.

Unless you're already planning a Costco run this week it's probably best to call your local store to confirm they carry the pumpkins before heading over. Once you get to the store, keep in mind these tips for picking the perfect pumpkin: Always pick up a pumpkin by the bottom to avoid the stem snapping off (especially with pumpkins this large). You'll also want to check for any bruising, dents, soft spots or cuts, as these can all make a pumpkin rot faster. And remember the greener the stem, the fresher the pumpkin.

With this news coming so early into the fall season, there's plenty of time to come up with ways to put these adorable pumpkins to good use. Try a DIY pumpkin craft, or refine your jack-o'-lantern carving skills before Halloween really hits. Or, while you're already at the store, you may as well pick up the ingredients to try out a new pumpkin recipe. No matter what you use the pumpkin for, this is a deal you can't pass up.
