ESPN: The Ocho is back during coronavirus quarantine featuring dodgeball, eating, slippery stairs

The clock isn’t striking midnight on this Cinderella story. It’s been seven full days without sports and while we should be watching the Cinderellas of March Madness, ESPN is at least allowing us to watch the sudden shining superstars of other sports.

Welcome back to ESPN8: The Ocho.

ESPN has held a full 24 hours of off-the-wall sports content three times before, typically in August. It’s a nod to the brand made famous in the movie “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story” starring Vince Vaughn, Christine Taylor and Ben Stiller. Creator Rawson Marshall Thurber threw in “The Ocho” channel to commentate the games as a play off of ESPN2, which was being called “The Deuce” when he wrote it in the 1990s.

Now the company is bringing it back to fill the sports-less void with a lineup of content from past Ocho days. It airs Sunday, March 22 on ESPN2.
