#CopyThat: Runway-Chic Center Braid

The Ralph & Russo Haute Couture Fall 2016 show was a fanciful display of flower and butterfly-embellished gowns, seductive lace and silk tapestries, and ornate, wide-brimmed hats. To complement the luxe bohemian designs, models’ strands were styled into a chic center braid.

This elegant runway braid may look complex, but hairstylist Cristina B. of the Rita Hazan Salon shows us exactly how to copy the look in just a few simple steps. Study her cornrow technique in the video tutorial, and check out the detailed tips below.

Step-by-step instructions

1. Prep hair with Rita Hazan Triple Threat Split End Remedy, focusing on the ends of hair to help minimize frizz.

2. Use a rat-tail comb to section hair from hairline to nape in three parts.

3. Cornrow-braid the center section, and secure the end with a clear elastic. Stop right above the nape, to create a full ponytail.

4. Smooth Oribe Original Pomade through the loose sections of hair before gathering into a low ponytail.

5. Wrap the braid around the pony to hide the holder, and set with Oribe Superfine Hair Spray.
