#CopyThat: Regina Hall’s 2016 BET Awards Makeup

We can always count on actress and comedian Regina Hall for a few good belly laughs. But there was absolutely nothing funny about the star’s makeup at the 2016 BET Awards. Hall left us stunned with her heavily-lined eyes, bold brows, and nude lips.

Hall’s smoldering eye makeup accentuated the sexy Elisabetta Franchi dress that the 45-year-old (yes, 45!) poured her curves into. Copying the star’s sheer outfit may be a stretch. Yet, achieving her red carpet beauty is easier than you’d think. Keep reading to find out how makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes recreated Hall’s look on lifestyle blogger Janae Raquel.

Once you’ve applied your foundation, use a rich black eye pencil (Hughes used MAC Cosmetics Eye Kohl in Smolder) to outline the waterline and blend into lower lash line with a small flat brush. Repeat on top, carefully smoking out along the upper lash line. Define the pigment and lock in the pencil with a liquid eyeliner like Ardency Inn Punker Rock On Waterproof Liquid Liner. Made a mistake? No problem! A Q-tip will clean up any liner mishaps with a swipe. Brush on a light cream eye shadow (try the Becca Ombre Rouge Eye Palette) onto lids for a muted wash of color. Apply mascara to both the top and bottom lashes. Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes in Glossy Black will plump up your eyelashes nicely, but if you need more of a lift, Ardell Demi Wispies Black falsies are the way to go.

For the lips, swipe on a biscuit-beige hue (Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips in Nude Kate) and gently press your lips together to set lip color.

Hall’s complexion is literally lit! Mimic her gorgeous glow by highlighting (Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow in Light to Medium) the cheekbones in a “C” shape – swiveling brush from the cheekbone to the brow bone. Don’t forget to highlight down the bridge of the nose, too.

A simple trick to modernize a nude lip is to layer on a lighter shade (the Maybelline Color Sensational The Loaded Bolds Lipstick collection includes an array of neutrals lippies).

To complete the look, add a peachy-pink blush (Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Blush in Ecstasy) to the cheeks for a warm pop of color. Now look in the mirror and say, “Hello, gorgeous!”
