Cool TM RTW Spring 2022

Thomas Monet was one of the few designers doing a live runway show, his in a run-down private mansion just off Place d’Iéna that summed up Cool TM’s syncing of bourgeois with street.

Monet toned down the grunge, but not the color, in this vividly hued coed collection, seeking to elevate the look. The craftsmanship of his techniques and original fabric treatments stood out as a result.

A wool cocoon dress in a giant houndstooth pattern and dainty floral silk shirts and dresses or guipure and lace designs were good examples, whether worn by male or female models on the catwalk. Several looks were styled with silk headscarves and dark glasses.

Tweed jackets were paired with track pants featuring lace stripes in the form of daisies up their sides, or with ripped jeans held together with vividly printed linings. Pieces in leather appliqué featuring a rainbow pattern were crafted in collaboration with Paris-based Pierre Rioufol.

Monet’s outsized tracksuits crafted from jacquard silk, which are becoming a house signature, included one head-to-toe zebra look with a headscarf attached in guise of a hood — perfect for cruising along on summer days with the roof down, 2020s style.
