Conversation with Kevin: Terence Crawford expects to fight both Keith Thurman, Errol Spence

Terence Crawford is one of the elite fighters in the world. After scoring stoppage wins over Felix Diaz and Julius Indongo in 2017 to raise his record to 32-0 with 23 knockouts, Crawford was selected as the 2017 Yahoo Sports Fighter of the Year in boxing.

He’s one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world and has many significant bouts ahead of him in his new division: welterweight.

He spoke at length with Yahoo Sports in this one-on-one interview. Among the highlights of our very candid conversation are these:

2:45: Crawford explains the significance of unifying the super lightweight titles.

4:35: He explains why he got so emotional after knocking out Julius Indongo to unify the championship.

5:47: I point out to Crawford that in his last six fights, he’s won 124 of 132 scored rounds and he reacts to that.

7:40: I asked Crawford if he felt he’d be able to carry his power to welterweight.

8:40: Crawford reacts to a quote from Floyd Mayweather about him.

9:19: Crawford picks the top two welterweights other than himself.

11:03: Crawford answers whether he believes it’s likely that he’ll end up fighting Keith Thurman and/or Errol Spence Jr.

12:14: Crawford says the plan is for him to fight Jeff Horn next, on April 14 in New York, but said there is no deal done at this point.

13:12: He explains how he scored the Horn-Manny Pacquiao fight from last year. Horn won a highly controversial decision.

14:13: I mentioned that pros are now allowed to fight in the Olympics and asked Crawford if he would be interested in going for the gold in 2020. His answer may surprise.

15:22: I read Crawford a quote from super lightweight contender Regis Prograis, in which Prograis said he wondered how Crawford would do against a big puncher. Crawford reacts.

17:23: Crawford talks about Vasyl Lomachenko and gives his take on the pound-for-pound ratings.

19:05: He says, “We don’t know how old,” Guillermo Rigondeaux is.

21:08: Crawford gives his pick for 2017 Fighter of the Year.
