Contigo Recalls 5.7 Million Kids Water Bottles

Contigo recalled their Kids Cleanable Water Bottles, which are sold at stores such as Target, Walmart, and Costco. About 5.7 million bottles were included in the recall.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, a clear silicone spout may possibly detach from the lids. This presents a choking hazard for toddlers and children.

Contigo previously issued a recall of these water bottles in August 2019 for the same reason. The company gave out replacement lids—which are also included in this current recall. According to a press release, there were 427 reports of detached spouts and 27 reports of spouts found in children's mouths.

The recalled bottles came in a variety of colors and designs, as well as three different sizes (13-ounce, 14-ounce, and 20-ounce). Packs of one, two, and three bottles were sold at the grocery stores and online between April 2018 and February 7, 2020.

Contigo encourages consumers to stop using the bottles and replacement lids. Anyone with a recalled product can contact Contigo for a free water bottle.
