Conor McGregor surrenders to New York police after bus attack, formally charged

Conor McGregor has surrendered himself to New York police after crashing the UFC’s media day on Thursday at the Barclays Center and attacking a bus and was charged with three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief.

McGregor walked out of Brooklyn’s 78th precinct on Friday morning.

The debacle first started after UFC president Dana White announced that McGregor will no longer be the lightweight champion when the Octagon door closes for the UFC 223 bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov. The winner of that fight, White said Thursday, will be the undisputed lightweight champion.

After airing his grievances with the UFC on Twitter, McGregor crashed the media day at the Brooklyn arena, getting into altercations with multiple fighters there.

He then went on a rampage, and was seen throwing a security guardrail and chairs at a bus full of UFC fighters and staff as it was attempting to leave, reportedly injuring several people.

After the altercations, McGregor then left the scene in a van with his team before authorities or White could arrive.

I think after this disgusting and despicable move, everybody’s relationship with Conor will change,” White said. “This is the type of bad decision you make that turns people against you.”

McGregor last competed eight months ago, falling to Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match that reportedly earned him at least $30 million.
