It seems like just yesterday that Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly (real name: Richard Colson Baker) made their Instagram debut in that steamy black-and-white photo. But in reality, the two have only been together since about March 2020 — an eternity or not, depending on how everyone's feeling the passage of time now. Here's what you need to know about this fiery relationship, which already has "sources" talking about wedding bells.

Before they met, Fox was married to Beverly Hills, 90210 star Brian Austin Green. They met in 2004 and have three children together: Noah, Bodhi, and Journey. Fox and Green filed for divorce back in 2015, but People notes that they reconciled in 2016, just before the birth of their third son. According to PopSugar, Kelly dated Halsey, Amber Rose, and Kate Beckinsale — and he shares a daughter named Cassie with his ex, Emma Cannon.

March 2020

It all started on the set of Midnight In The Switchgrass. Deadline reports that Fox and Kelly met on set, but E! News adds that the two didn't get close until production was stopped due to COVID-19. A source explained that the two had "been hanging out a lot since their movie was shut down," and that "the downtime has been good for them ... They are intrigued by each other and having a lot of fun."

May 2020

The Daily Mail published photos of the two of them together in Calabasas California. At the time, rumors of Fox's separation from Green started to make headlines. On May 18, on the ...with Brian Austin Green podcast, Green confirmed that the two had been on a break since December 2019.

"She said, 'I realized when I was out of the country working alone that I feel more like myself and I liked myself better during that experience and I think that might be something worth trying for me,'" he said. "I was shocked and I was upset about it, but I can't be upset at her because she didn't ask to feel that way. It wasn't a choice she made, that's the way she honestly felt."

Days later, Fox appeared in Kelly's music video for "Bloody Valentine."

June 2020

E! News reports that Green "isn't filing for divorce yet," despite more evidence that Fox and Kelly are the real deal.

"He wants to give Megan space and is hopeful they will find their way back to one another," a source said. "It's been hard to see her get back out in the dating world, but he is trying to fill his time with his kids and friends."

Us Weekly reported that Kelly and Fox were official the very next day.

"Megan and MGK have gotten more serious and are officially dating and referring to one another as boyfriend and girlfriend," a source explained. "They're enjoying spending more and more time together and have a strong connection."

July 2020

Fox and Kelly give their first joint interview on Give Them Lala ... With Randall, Lala Kent and Randall Emmett's podcast. Emmett happens to be the director of Midnight in the Switchgrass.

Fox said that when she found out that Kelly had been cast in the film, she knew something would happen, since they seemed to have some chemistry during their auditions.

"I was like, 'Who is going to play this role?' And he was like, 'Oh, we just got Machine Gun Kelly,' and immediately, I was like, 'Uh oh,'" Fox said, according to Entertainment Tonight. "Because I knew — I could feel that some wild shit was going to happen to me from that meeting, but I wasn't yet sure what. I just felt it like, deep in my soul — that something was going to come from that."

And Fox follows it up a few days later with a now-iconic snapshot. She disables comments on the post.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Fox addresses some of her ex's online activities, including posting images of their sons using almost the same caption she had for her Instagram post: "Achingly beautiful boys...... My heart is yours"

"For whatever reason, people are very trigger happy to call me stupid or call me vain or call me a slut, which is crazy. I was in the same relationship for 15 years, you know?" she said. "It's bizarre, this image that gets projected onto me that people have just accepted and that's lived for over a decade and that I never really did anything to earn in the first place."

September 2020

Things seem to be going in the right direction. Sources say that MGK has met Fox's sons.

"MGK has met Megan's kids, but Brian is pretty protective of them," a source told Us Weekly. "Megan and Brian's relationship is so up and down. They have been co-parenting in a healthy way as best as they can."

But the same source noted that Fox and Kelly aren't rushing into things.

"MGK and Megan aren't seriously talking about getting engaged, married or having kids right now and they're not there yet. It's too soon for everyone, both of their kids and Brian included," the source finished. "They are definitely super into each other. MGK is obsessed with Megan."

The same month, the two celebrate hearing "Bloody Valentine" on the radio together.
