The Complete Soundtrack To High Fidelity Season 1
Set in a record store, the original High Fidelity was primed from the get-go to deliver some classic music moments, and it certainly delivered. Sure, it had Jack Black singing Marvin Gaye, and Jack Black dancing around the aforementioned record store, but the movie also featured a soundtrack built around some absolute jams that helped set it apart from the rest of the fray. Now, Hulu is releasing its own take on High Fidelity, an update on the film that comes with Zoë Kravitz in the John Cusack role and in the form of a series rather than a movie.
Process-wise, it certainly has a lot to live up to—the characters in the original film were supposed to be such snobs about music, that the producers meticulously listened to thousands of songs and landed on more than 70 for the movie itself—there's certainly a strong foundation for the series to follow. You'll likely hear some old favorites, and soon-to-be-favorites among the bunch.
Set once again in a record store—although this time one in modern Brooklyn; Nick Hornby’s original novel was set in London, and the 2000 movie was set in Chicago—Hulu’s series once again comes through with a soundtrack full of songs you’ll find yourself tapping your toes, dancing a little in your seat, and either Googling lyrics or rapidly Shazam-ing (usually in that order).
