Comedian with Tourette’s Syndrome thrills ‘AGT’ judges with surprising act

On Tuesday’s America’s Got Talent, we met 30-year-old comedian Samuel J. Comroe from Los Angeles. While chatting with the judges before his performance, it was revealed that Comroe has Tourette's Syndrome. He was diagnosed at the age of six, and had to deal with more than just the physical challenges while growing up.“At school, I got bullied, nicknames, teased, being the one left out of things,” Comroe said during his pre-produced backstory segment. “There was really no safe zone.”Now he uses his Tourette’s as a centerpiece for his comedy routine. He jokes that people always commonly mistake his twitching for thinking he’s trying to tell them a secret, and about the time his parents sent him to an actual Tourette’s camp as a child. His brand of comedy is not only cathartic for him, but he also hopes it will help teach his new daughter about embracing differences and overcoming challenges through his example.With tears in his eyes, Comroe accepted four “yeses” from the judges and will be heading through to the next round.America's Got Talent airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
