Comedian Katt Williams is headed to Daytona Beach: What you need to know

Katt Williams, the veteran comedian and actor as famous for his edgy stand-up material as his penchant for headline-making scrapes with the law, is bringing his “2023 and Me” comedy tour to Daytona Beach.

Here’s what you need to know:

Williams will perform at 8 p.m. Aug. 25 at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach.

Pre-sale tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, at Ticketmaster.com, ahead of the sale to the general public on Friday, May 12, also at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster. Ticket prices start at $59, plus additional taxes and fees.

Williams' career ranges from stand-up to feature films

A native of Cincinnati, Williams had established himself by the late 1990s as a popular fixture on the nation’s comedy circuit at stages such as The Improv, The Comedy Club and The Ice House as well as BET’s Comic View showcase. In 2006, he starred in his first HBO special, “The Pimp Chronicles, Pt. 1.”

Along the way, he also made the transition into film and TV acting, including his debut feature film role as Money Mike in the 2002 stoner comedy “Friday After Next.”

His list of credits also includes “Father Figures,” “Norbit,” “Scary Movie V,” “Epic Movie,” “The House Next Door: Meet the Blacks 2,” “Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore,” “The Boondocks,” “Wild 'n Out” and a guest role in “Atlanta” that yielded Primetime Emmy Award.

In addition, Williams continued to star in well-received standup specials, most recently the 2022 Netflix production “Katt Williams: World War III.”

Katt Williams also known for off-stage controversies

Williams also is known for a long string of legal issues that has kept his name in the tabloids.

A short list of incidents compiled by the Los Angeles Times includes allegedly holding women who wanted a photo with him at gunpoint; an alleged fight onstage at a concert; an arrest on suspicion of aggravated assault, terroristic threats and false imprisonment, as well as drug and weapons charges after a raid on his house in Georgia, all reported within a few months in 2016.

In that same period, Williams also was arrested in Atlanta and charged with battery after allegedly throwing a saltshaker at the manager of a local restaurant after the comedian’s group was denied special seating.
