After teasing a brand-new product on its Instagram Story, ColourPop finally revealed the big news last night. Contrary to popular belief — and maybe we're dashing your dreams here— but the Southern California-based cosmetics company isn't launching liquid highlighters or mascara just yet. Instead, ColourPop is expanding its Ultra Lip collection, which now includes the Ultra Matte, Ultra Satin, Ultra Metallic, and Ultra Glossy ranges. Today, the new ColourPop Ultra Blotted Lip launches, a new formula that's basically a fancy name for a lip stain. It's the perfect no-makeup makeup lipstick because it's the sheerest of ColourPop's liquid lip products. The Ultra Blotted Lip will also give you that blurred, just-been-kissed look that was all over the fall 2017 runway.
So how is it different from the OG Blurred Lip that debuted with the Alexis Ren collection? Well, the Ultra version is more matte, long-wearing and transfer-proof. The new formulation shares these qualities with the Ultra Matte Lip. However, the Ultra Blotted Lip is less opaque. Jordyn Wynn and Sharon Pak, who work in ColourPop's marketing department, did a side-by-side swatch of the Ultra Matte Lip and Ultra Blotted Lip, so you can truly see the difference between the two formulas.
The berry hue seen above is called Slide. It's a fan favorite around ColourPop's office. Here's a peek at all eight shades of ColourPop Ultra Blotted Lip that are coming out today.
Pak said ColourPop was inspired by the "popsicle pout" trend in Asia, a look she demonstrated on Instagram Stories by dabbing the fluffy applicator of the Ultra Blotted Lip on the center of her lips. Wynn also noted that the plush formula makes lips look a lot smoother and fills in fine lines.
If you still love the original Blotted Lips for it's super moisturizing but diffused coverage, ColourPop has something for you, too. Eight new spring-y shades are also dropping today.
The brand-new ColourPop Ultra Blotted Lip and new Blotted Lip shades will be available today at 10 a.m. PST on colourpop.com.
