From Jen Huang Photography... Kate and Suril, a lucky-in-love couple from New York, chose to tie the knot in sunny California. The night before, they celebrated with a modernized Sangeet - a traditional Indian pre-wedding event featuring colorful flowers, delicious food and drink, a henna station, and of course a night of festive dancing.

Kate merged the beautiful California landscape of Santa Barbara with colorful vibrant decor that stood out against the aging sandstone and historic architecture of the Santa Barbara Historical Society courtyard. Everyone was dressed in traditional Indian attire, including Kate, and decked out in layers of bangles and jewels.

All the tables were elegantly draped in traditional fabrics in hues of pink, magenta, purple and orange. Colorful florals adorned the tables in Indian copper vessels. The entire space was transformed for the night.

I especially love how bright colors translated in their film photographs, film is so exceptionally good at capturing color!

Kate, a modern day renaissance woman, is a brand marketer and highly creative - she even rehearsed and performed a traditional Indian dance as a surprise to her husband, who was moved to tears.
