College football fan who donated beer money to children's hospital gets year supply of Busch Lite

A "College Gameday" fan, who held a sign requesting beer money and ultimately donated the incredible amount of funds he received to a children's hospital, will have his face memorialized on limited-edition cans of Busch Light.

Last Friday, Carson King held up a poster board asking for help. It read: "Busch Light Supply Needs Replenished." The 24-year-old Iowa State Cyclones fan then listed his Venmo account for anyone who saw ESPN'S "College Gameday" coverage and felt inclined to donate to his plight.

King hoped for maybe a couple of dollars. Instead, he has received more than $200,000, which he announced he would donate to the University of Iowa's Stead Family Children's Hospital. He did keep enough to pay for one case of Busch Light, however.

The previously humorous and now heartfelt fundraiser was backed by both Venmo and Busch, who both promised to match the donations that were sent to King —meaning, University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital will likely receive more than a half million dollars.

On Friday, Busch upped the ante once more by announcing they would not only be sending King a year's supply of Busch Light, but the limited edition cans, which won't be released to the general public, will also have a personalized design on them.

"Hey [Carson King,] we said we’d send you a year’s worth of Busch Light, but first we had to make sure the cans were fit for a King," the company's tweet read. "Let us know where to send the truck."

The limited-edition cans feature, underneath King's visage, the words "Iowa Legend."

“It’s been great being a part of Carson’s story — his incredible act of goodwill is one of the most inspiring stories we’ve seen in a long time, and we’re honored to be a part of it," Daniel Blake, a representative of Busch Light, told the Des Moines Register. "Placing a person’s face directly onto our product is something we’ve never done before, but we felt we needed to create something special just for Carson. We can’t wait to get these new cans over to him so he won’t have to worry about running out of his Busch Light supply anytime soon.”

Donations can still be sent to King through Venmo to his account @Carson-King-25 until the end of the month.

Busch and King did not immediately respond to Yahoo Lifestyle’s requests for comment.
