'Cobra Kai' Is Officially Coming to an End After Season 6

Alright, Cobra Kai fans. We have some bittersweet news for you.

The sweet part? Cobra Kai is officially returning with season 6! The bitter part? It marks the end of one of our favorite series on Netflix!

Cobra Kai released an official statement this week declaring the show would come to an end after the upcoming sixth season.

This means that there's a whole lot we can expect. For one, there are some assumptions we can make about the show's storyline: Because we got the news of Cobra Kai's end ahead of its sixth season, there's a good chance that the story will come around full circle, tying any loose ends.

Keep reading to find out what to expect next from Cobra Kai season 6, including its release date, cast, plot, and other spoilers.

Will there be a Season 6 of 'Cobra Kai'?

Yes! Cobra Kai has officially been confirmed to return for season 6, but as we previously mentioned, it also came with the news of the show's end.

"Let me ask you: Do you have one more fight left in you?," a tweet from Cobra Kai's account read. "The sixth and final season of COBRA KAI is coming soon to Netflix."

The text was accompanied by a teaser-trailer that has us excited for what's to come.

Is 'Cobra Kai' ending?

Unfortunately, this is true. Soon after confirming there will be a season 6, Cobra Kai released an official statement declaring it to be the final season.

"Our day one goal with Cobra Kai has always been to end it on our terms, leaving the valley in the time and place we've always imagined," the statement writes. "So it is with immense pride and thankfulness that we are able to announce that achievement. The upcoming Season Six will mark the conclusion of Cobra Kai."

But, that doesn't necessarily mean this is the end of the story!

Showrunners Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg—the writers of this statement—alluded to what could potentially mean future movies and/or spinoffs for Cobra Kai and the Karate Kid franchise.

"While this may be a bittersweet day for the fandom, the Miyagiverse has never been stronger. This fandom is the BEST on the planet and we hope to be telling more Karate Kid stories with you down the line. Because as we all know, Cobra Kai Never Dies."

When will Season 6 of 'Cobra Kai' come out?

Season 5 saw frenemies Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and Daniel LaRusso (Macchio) working side by side in an effort to defeat Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) once and for all. (Thankfully, they succeeded!)

With the two men getting along better than ever, there's plenty of room for a new villain. And Schlossberg has hinted that John Kreese (Martin Kove), another notorious villain in the Cobra Kai universe, could be making a return following his escape from prison.

"There’s the ultimate Cobra Kai snake out there that is really pissed off at everybody right now. We’ll see if life goes on easy in Season 6, or if Kreese has something to say. Something tells me that it’s going to be the latter," Schlossberg said.

Although there's no confirmation, we do expect all of our favorites from the recent seasons to return. That includes the adults (Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, Courtney Henggeler, Vanessa Rubio, and Martin Kove) and the kids (Xolo Maridueña, Tanner Buchanan, Mary Mouser, Peyton List, and Jacob Bertrand). It doesn't seem like the show is done with Kenny's story, which means that Dallas Dupree Young will probably be back, too.

The characters we aren't too sure about are the show's villains. Silver, as we know, was defeated and sent to jail. (Although it was the same jail that Kreese escaped from, so who knows.) Chozen is more than likely headed back to Okinawa.

Sean Kanan, who plays Mike Barnes, and has made a few cameo appearances in Season 5, took to Twitter to share his interest in Season 6.
