Coach Taps Lola Tung and New Mascot Wasty for Coachtopia’s Sustainable Holiday Campaign
Coach’s sustainable Coachtopia label is bringing a burst of eco-friendliness to the holiday season, thanks to “The Summer I Turned Pretty” star Lola Tung — and the brand’s new mascot, Wasty.
“I’m so excited to be able to bring Coachtopia’s origin story to life,” said Tung in a brand statement. “The character of Wasty speaks to my inner child, but also reminds us of the beautiful things we can create with waste when we think in a more circular way. The holidays are a cheerful and exciting time of the year, but I also think it’s important to be aware of our consumption and consider the ways we can all be more sustainable.”

In the spirit of friendship during the holidays, the “Have A Wasty Holiday” film sees Wasty — a creature formed from patchwork pieces of Coach textiles — gift Tung a sustainable Coachtopia handbag after seeing her feel overwhelmed by overconsumption, immense holiday wrapping waste and the dangers faced by the environment today. You can watch the clip now on YouTube.
Coachtopia’s new film accompanies its colorful holiday campaign, which includes imagery focused on hope, sustainability and the power of Gen Z. One image finds Tung posing with Wasty in the brand’s blue puffer coat, $175 heart-shaped handbag and black boots, while the same shoes can be seen in a shot of the actress wearing a checked vest, leather skirt and a new butterfly-printed $275 Ergo shoulder bag.
The campaign’s final shot finds Tung wearing tall white boots with a quilted miniskirt, checked sweater vest and the brand’s purple Wavy Dinky handbag for a retro style statement. All of the pieces Tung wears are crafted with ethical materials, including recycled wool, PET Plastic and shearling, as well as leftover textiles from past Coach lines.
In other Coachtopia news, the label is also changing its approach to holiday shopping this season to reduce waste — including no holiday discounts or reductions, as well as a program where customers can donate Coachtopia products for their materials to be repurposed. You can discover Coachtopia’s new collection now on Coach’s website.
